Entrepreneurship and top-class sport

Learning objectives

In this module, students deal with the economic significance of entrepreneurship and the role of the entrepreneur. The main focus is on the founding of a company (entrepreneurship), but also on entrepreneurial activities in existing companies (intrapreneurship).
The module focuses on the person of the entrepreneur. Students learn what role the personality of the entrepreneur plays in the success of the start-up and the company. Among other things, psychological theories are used. The equally important role of the environment is only marginally dealt with in this module. Students will gain an understanding of the fact that the start-up process and the personality development of the entrepreneur can be seen as interacting processes.
In this module, entrepreneurs are related to top athletes. Entrepreneurial success and success in elite sports are partly based on similar personal resources and ways of acting. By comparing entrepreneurs and top athletes, students gain a deeper understanding of the success factors of entrepreneurial action. The examination of sports as a field not directly related to business trains openness in thinking, the transfer of knowledge to new circumstances and creativity.
